JACK MARSHALL is a musician and educator based in Florida. Jack's mission as a music educator is to educate, motivate, and inspire young musicians through educational opportunities both in and out of the classroom. Music education helps students with academic, social, and emotional skills, and one of Jack's goals is to incorporate both traditional and 21st-century music education techniques and resources to provide a well-rounded and fulfilling music education experience.
Having a strong and supportive upbringing in the areas of music and education, Jack uses his developed skills and abilities to create a pathway towards educating students and helping them embrace their inner musician. As a K-12 student, Jack was a member and student leader in multiple choral and instrumental ensembles in South Florida; these included both in-school and out-of-school ensembles. In chorus at North Broward Preparatory School, he served as a section leader for both the tenors and basses, a collaborative and rehearsal pianist, and a teaching assistant, conductor, and pianist for the middle school chorus. In school band, he served as the principal horn in the wind ensemble and the principal mellophone in the pep band. In an out-of-school choral ensemble, the Florida Singing Sons Boychoir, he served as the lead chorister, a section leader for the baritones and basses, a music theory and aural skills instructor for all levels, a collaborative and rehearsal pianist, the director of the Jam Session, a student-run ensemble within FSSB, and a mentor and ambassador for younger members and prospective auditioning members. Since graduating, he has returned to both NBPS and FSSB multiple times in multiple capacities, including as a performer in the school band and the 2024 alumni opera Gianni Schicci, a substitute teacher and rehearsal pianist for the choral ensembles in both FSSB and NBPS, and a music theory and aural skills tutor for AP exams, FSSB Theory exams, and FMEA All-State auditions.
Following his K-12 music experiences, Jack continued to develop his musical and educational skills at Florida State University in Tallahassee, Florida, where he is now a senior. While at FSU, he has served as a board member for the university chapter of the American Choral Directors' Association. While Jack was a board member, FSU ACDA received the Collegiate Chapter of the Year award at the 2025 national ACDA conference in Dallas. He additionally served as a conductor and a pianist for the Capital Children's Choir, FSU's community elementary-age chorus. Outside of FSU, Jack has served as a member of the church choir at St. John's Episcopal Church in Tallahassee, where he has worked with the newly established St. John's Choir School, most recently serving as a music theory and composition instructor and rehearsal pianist at the St. John's Summer Choir Camp. While at FSU, Jack also established JM Music, an LLC specializing in music education enrichment and private music instruction.
JM Music by Jack Marshall, colloquially known as JM Music, was created in 2023 and established as an LLC in 2024. A comprehensive music education enrichment experience, JM Music offers private music instruction for voice and multiple instruments, music theory and aural skills training, audition and adjudication practice, mock auditions, choral practice tracks, and composition and arrangement consultations, with more online enrichment opportunities to be published in the fall.
